The latest edition of ‘Sargolsav,’ the annual national crafts fair organised by the Kerala Tourism Development Corporation at Sargalaya Arts and Crafts Village in Iringal, will be held from December 20 to 30.
Chief Executive Officer of Sargalaya P.P. Bhaskaran told reporters here on Thursday that besides the resident artisans and craftsmen at the village, around 200 accomplished artisans from all over the country would take part in the 10-day festival to be inaugurated by Tourism Minister A.P. Anil Kumar at 6 p.m. on December 20. K. Dasan, MLA, would preside over the function.
Sargolsav would have handicrafts and arts pavilions and a special pavilion by the Department of Forests.

There would be handicrafts competitions for students, a Kerala food festival, amusement rides, and boating.
A variety of cultural programmes would be held every night under the aegis of the Department of Culture, Government of India, and the South Zone Cultural Centre, Thanjavur. Karagattam from Tamil Nadu, Bihu dance from Assam, Garba and Raas from Gurjarat, Paika from Jharkhand, Chepeli from Uttarakhand, and Fag from Haryana would be performed in the evenings, besides musical programmes and other cultural activities of the local talent.
The entry fee to Sargalaya would remain the same during the Sargolsav. Students up to the high-school level and accompanying guardians would be provided free entry if the children produced their school identity cards. Group dance, Oppana, Mohiniyattom, Kuchippudi, Bharatanatyam, and folk dance competitions would be organised for students who had secured ‘A’ grade at the district level.

The winners would get cash awards. The registration forms were available on the Sargalaya website and its Facebook page.
