Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State president P.S. Sreedharan Pillai has termed the controversy over the remarks by party spokesperson B. Gopalakrishnan about filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan “a closed chapter.”
He told the media here on Tuesday that the party did not have “negative sentiments” against anyone. “There is no need to create an atmosphere of animosity and hatred here. Mr. B. Gopalakrishnan has already clarified his position on the media. I have nothing more to add,” Mr. Pillai said.
He alleged that those who rake up the issue again had some ulterior motives.

Mr. Pillai asked Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to relinquish the Home portfolio in the wake of his alleged mishandling of a number of incidents, including the suspension of former Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau Director Jacob Thomas, which was recently reversed by the Central Administrative Tribunal.
He said that Mr. Thomas was suspended without valid reasons and only because he dared to raise graft charges against some top bureaucrats.
