The Kozhikode district committee of the Muslim Educational Society (MES) has urged the government to resume the evening LLB course at the Government Law College, Kozhikode.

In a press release here on Wednesday, MES district president C.T. Zakir Hussain and secretary P.K. Abdul Lateef said that the course was discontinued in 2002.

They said that people from other regions who had completed part-time LLB courses were being appointed in various posts in government departments as there had been a shortage of law graduates from Malabar. Government employees from Kozhikode district were being denied the opportunity to apply for posts such as law officer, magistrate and munsiff under the service quota as they were not able to join the evening LLB course here.
