Power supply, disrupted by Wednesday’s summer rain and storm in rural areas of Kozhikode, was partly restored by the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) on Thursday. KSEB engineers said the situation would be normal by Friday.

In the heavy rain and storm, a number of lamp posts got uprooted and power supply lines snapped. The damage was more in the Thamarassery KSEB Section.

An assistant engineer said the power supply lines under the section were damaged following the fall of uprooted avenue trees. The supply disruption affected hundreds of residents at Ambayathode, Kayyelikkal, Kadavoor and Puthuppadi areas, he said. Farmers in Mukkam, Thamarassery and Koorachundu areas suffered loss in the heavy rain and wind. About 20 tile-thatched houses were damaged in the rural areas of Kozhikode. Crop loss too has been reported.
