Adding spice to the city’s Onam celebrations, The Hindu MetroPlus Pookkalam contest will be held at Gujarathi Hall here on Saturday. This time, the prize money for the winning team is Rs.20, 000, which is the highest amount offered by any other host in the region.
The second and third prize winners will get Rs.12,500 and Rs.7,500, respectively. Consolation prizes will be awarded to ten teams. All the other participating teams will get Rs.750 as reimbursement for the cost of flowers after the formal prize distribution ceremony.
Sharing the true zeal of the Onam season, the event will also select the best traditionally dressed man and woman participant of the event. The title sponsor of the programme is Parle supported by State Bank of Travancore. Kerafed and Kerala State Social Security Mission are the associate sponsors. The gift sponsors include Focus Shirts, Happy, Baby Care, Tierra Foods, Vismay Sarees, TTK Prestige and Synthyte Kitchen Treasure.
