As part of equipping the State police force to face Maoist threats, the Ministry of Home is planning to extend them superior logistic support and special training.
Minister for Home Ramesh Chennithala discussed the action plans and strategies in detail at a high-level meeting, which was attended by top police officers, including the State Police Chief, here, on Friday.
Official sources said the Home Minister spent a major part of his time during the discussions to boost the confidence of senior police officers to carry out stronger action against alleged Maoist infiltration.

He also promised better armaments to the force to carry out the operations.
Other than the specially trained Thunderbolt squad, the local police would be given more support in terms of State funding, logistics, and training.
The police stations in North Kerala would be given special focus as three newly constituted wings of the Maoist movement had its focus on the region.

“The Home Minister has reviewed in detail the already taken action in the sector and discussed the possible changes to be introduced in fighting the issue. “There will be surely come changes,” said a senior police officer.
