Plea to restore Haj flights from Karipur

A Haj training camp held at Madin Academy here on Tuesday demanded that Haj embarkation facility be restored at Karipur.

A resolution passed by the pilgrims who attended the camp asked the authorities to bring back Haj embarkation facility to Karipur airport as the airport renovation had already been completed.

The facility was shifted to Nedumbassery when Karipur airport began runway renovation.

The camp raised concern at the attempts by vested interests to destroy Karipur airport. Hundreds of pilgrims preparing for this year’s Haj attended the training camp organised by Madin Academy.

Haj Committee chairman Thodiyoor Mohammed Kunhi Moulavi inaugurated the camp. Madin chairman Sayed Ibrahim Khaleel Bukhari delivered the keynote address.

Scholars Ibrahim Baqavi, Sulaiman Faizi and Aboobacker Baqavi led different training sessions. The camp provided practical training on various aspects of Haj and Umra.

The organisers claimed that nearly 10,000 pilgrims going to Makkah under government supervision and with private tour groups attended the camp.
