Veteran communist ideologue ‘Berlin’ Kunhanandan Nair has alleged that the party-level inquiry declared by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] leadership into the murder of Revolutionary Marxist Party (RMP) leader T.P. Chandrasekharan was a farce and meant to hoodwink the public.
Addressing a public gathering after unveiling the T.P. Chandrasekharan memorial at Onchiyam on Saturday, Mr. Kunhanandan Nair said, “Not even a single man was appointed to look into the issue by the party.” This had already been confirmed by top leaders of the party, he said.
Communist Marxist Party leader C.P. John said the much-hyped internal inquiry of the CPI(M) was meant to target the real witnesses of the case, and discourage them from giving evidence in court. He alleged that the party was practising “social fascism,” throwing away all democratic values.

Idathupaksha Ekopana Samiti leader R.P. Azad alleged that the witnesses in the cases were turning hostile only owing to inadequate security. “The protection of the witness should be a government responsibility and it should be done with utmost importance,” he said.
Along with the RMP leaders, former CPI (M) central committee member Mangath Ram Pasla and Left Collective leader Prasenjit Bose attended the public convention.
An anthology of ‘51 Poems’ remembering Chandrasekharan and a special edition of the ‘Revolutionary Magazine’ were released on the occasion.

The memorial meet, organised in connection with the first death anniversary of the RMP leader, began with a torch-bearing rally from Vallikkad to Onchiyam on Saturday morning. Mr. Kunhanandan Nair lit the lamp in the martyr’s column in the presence of a large crowd. A red volunteer march and the valedictory programmes organised at Orkkatteri on Saturday evening also drew a huge crowd.
