With this, the total number of police stations in Kozhikode city police limits reached 19. Olavanna, Kunnathupala, Mathara, Manakkadavu and Arappuzha regions would henceforth come under the jurisdiction of the Pantheerankavu police station. The police said all the wards in Perumanna grama panchayat and 17 wards in Olavanna grama panchayat would come under the jurisdiction of the Pantheerankavu station.

The temporary station building identified by the Olavanna panchayat authorities was renovated at a cost of ₹10 lakh sanctioned from the local development fund of Mr. Rahim. The new station was sanctioned by the government with a strength of 34 police officers, including a circle inspector and two sub inspectors.

The Pantheerankavu station was one of the six new police stations announced by the State government in the last budget with a total allocation of around ₹50 crore for the modernisation of the police force under various national schemes and to set up new stations.
