The Rural police couldn’t till Thursday make any breakthrough into a case of sexual assault on a kindergarten girl, allegedly by some senior students of a school in Nadapuram where the child is studying, though they questioned a few students suspected of having involvement in the case.
Three students, who were taken into custody for detailed interrogation, were not arrested as the police couldn’t gain any vital evidence of their involvement in the incident.

A senior police officer told The Hindu over phone that there were several ‘mysterious elements’ in the case, which should be probed in detail for more clarity. The interrogation would be continued and further details would come to light shortly, he said.
Though the Valayam police had registered a case under section 376 (punishment for rape) of the Indian Penal Code, no one had been detained in connection with the incident which kindled a series of protest in the region.

Meantime, the Kerala State Commission for Protection of Child Rights has sought a report from the Rural police on the incident that reportedly occurred on October 30.
