Music to heal troubled hearts of Nadapuram

Janaranjini, a collective of singers and musicians, will stage its inaugural show on Sunday.

‘Janaranjini,’ a group of singers and musicians who have come together to campaign for the cause of communal harmony under the auspices of the district administration, will stage its inaugural show ‘Music for Harmony’ at Nadapuram on Sunday.

Janaranjini, which came into being in 2012 with the District Collector as its chairman, seeks to make use of the potential of music and cultural activities to maintain peace and harmony between various communities in a region.

Objectives

Promoting music, supporting singers and musicians, and identifying and encouraging up and coming artistes are some of the objectives of the collective, which was launched by musician V. Dakshinamoorthy last year.

Show in Nadapuram

An organising committee with E.K. Vijayan, MLA, as its chairman and Nadapuram grama panchayat president Soopy Narikkateri as convener is looking into the smooth conduct of the show in communally sensitive Nadapuram, a release here on Wednesday said.

More shows

Janaranjini will conduct similar music shows in different parts of the district with the aim of spreading the message of communal harmony and peaceful coexistence, the release said.

The show is being sponsored by the district administration and the Nadapuram Pauravali.

Singers and artistes from different parts of the region, including Satheesh Babu, Sibella Sadanandan, Sunil Kumar, Vilayil Faseela, Sindu Premkumar, Roshini, Nishad, and Nayan Sha will take part in the show.

Poem

A poem composed by former Forest Minister Benoy Viswom about Nadapuram will be recited as part of the show, which will be held at a specially arranged venue on the premises of the bus-stand at Nadapuram at 5 p.m.

Mr. Vijayan will inaugurate the opening ceremony.

District Collector K.V. Mohan Kumar will preside over the function.
