Collector asks operators to download application

The Kozhikode District Administration in association with the Active Network Group of Emergency Life Savers (Angels) has come up with a mobile phone application that would help ambulances reach places on time. All ambulances in the district and trained volunteers are linked through the application.

The app makes it easier for commoners to seek the help of ambulance operators and volunteers during emergency situations, using the Global Positioning System. It also gives alerts to nearby hospitals, clinics, pharmacies and blood banks. It has a link that could be contacted for matters related to women’s safety. Besides available rescue operators, expert swimmers, snake catchers and blood donors will be linked with the application in future.

District Collector U.V. Jose has asked all ambulance operators in the district to register with the application, which could be downloaded from the Google Play Store. A meeting of ambulance owners will be convened soon. Government doctors and nurses in the district will attend a three-day training camp on emergency medicine. Angels and the National Health Mission will train caregivers at the taluk level.
