‘Mohini Nruthyathi,' now on in Kozhikode, enthrals audience

A stellar performance by Vineetha Nedungadi lit up the second day of ‘Mohini Nruthyathi,’ a Mohiniyattom festival, at Tali Gayathri Kalyana Mandapam on Thursday.

The festival, being organised jointly by Navarasam Public Charitable Trust and Chavara Cultural Centre, got off to a colourful start with Kalamandalam Chandrika lighting a lamp on Wednesday. Kalamandalam Sathyavrethan, chairman of the organising committee, presided over the inaugural session.

Ms. Chandrika, who was honoured with Gurupuja award by Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi for her overall contribution to the art form, was felicitated at the function.

The inaugural day was witness to a grand mohiniyattom performance by Sunanda Nair, a postgraduate in Mohiniyattom from Nalanda Nruthya Kala Maha Vidyalaya and founder of Sruthilaya Institute of Fine Arts.

The dance festival will conclude on Friday with a performance by Vijayalakshmi.
