A 43-year-old man hailing from Olavanna was arrested on charge of raping his 13-year-old daughter. The man’s friend, aged 18, was also arrested on the same charge.
The incident came to light as the girl attempted suicide by consuming poison and was admitted to the Kozhikode Medical College Hospital on Saturday.
The police said the man and the friend had sexually abused the minor girl several times. The girl, in her statement given to the police, revealed that her father had been sexually assaulting her since 2009.

The accused, both of whom were charged under Section 376 (punishment for rape) of the IPC and various other sections of the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act, were presented before the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court-V and remanded in judicial custody for 14 days.
