Malayalam university launches diploma courses

Diplomas can be taken along with master’s courses

Education Minister P.K. Abdu Rabb inaugurates new diploma courses of Thunchathu Ezhuthachan Malayalam University at Tirur on Thursday.

Setting a model for other institutions in the State, Thunchathu Ezhuthachan Malayalam University launched four diploma programmes which can be taken up along with the Master’s courses offered by the university. The media-related diploma programmes have been designed to enhance the employability of the students.

Inaugurating the four programmes — Diploma in Writing for Television and Television Presentation; Diploma in Script Writing and Videography; Diploma in Advertising with Special Focus on Malayalam Copywriting; and Diploma in New Media Studies — Education Minister P.K. Abdu Rabb said the language used by the media would be enriched by the programmes envisioned by the university.

Mr. Rabb said the government would launch skill parks in all Assembly constituencies in the State with the aim of increasing the employability of the youth.

The Education Minister also released the syllabi of the new diploma programmes.

Presiding over the function, C. Mammootty, MLA, exhorted the university authorities to devise more programmes that would be beneficial for the media as well.

Welcoming the gathering, Vice Chancellor K. Jayakumar said better employability of students would be a distinguishing feature of the Malayalam University.
