Mahima set for a good innings in Tamil films

As a Plus Two student, Mahima Nambiar was on cloud nine when she was invited to act in her first Tamil movie ‘Sattai.’ With just a small role in a Malayalam movie ‘Karyasthan’ behind her, the lead role in ‘Sattai’ was a dream come true for this Kasaragod girl.

Now in Kerala for the promotion of her second Tamil movie ‘Ennamo Nadakkuthu,’ Mahima is elated.

“I wanted to be an actor right from childhood, though I did not tell any one about it. I was just 15 when ‘Karyasthan’ happened, and in Plus Two when I acted in ‘Sattai.’ I was good in studies and my teachers were worried that I did not go for any professional course. However, I manage my studies along with my career,” Mahima told presspersons at the Calicut Press Club here on Thursday.

She was thrilled to have gotten the opportunity to share screen space with Rahman, Prabhu, and Saranya in her second movie, and the chance to work with excellent technicians.

Interestingly, Mahima does not have any history of art festivals behind her, even though she is a trained classical dancer and a singer.

Her competitiveness was limited to essay writing, that too in Hindi. “Yes, I like Hindi and I would relish a chance to act in a Hindi movie,” Mahima said. As for acting in another Malayalam movie, she is waiting for the right script. After ‘Ennamo Nadakkuthu,’ she has committed to three other movies in Tamil.

In ‘Ennamo Nadakkuthu,’ directed by P. Rajapandi, Mahima is paired with Vijay Vasanth, who is also doing his second movie.

He is also a member of the Tamil Nadu team in Celebrity Cricket League.

The movie, which is having a successful run for the fourth week in Tamil Nadu, will be released in Kerala on June 6.

Directed Rajapandi and Vijay were also in Kozhikode for the promotion of the movie.
