Madrasa teacher held

The Nadapuram police have arrested a madrasa teacher on the charge of sexually assaulting a nine-year- old boy near Vilathapuram Kuttiyil at Purameri in the district.

Noufal Sakafy, 27, of Urakam Melmuri, near Vengara in Malappuram, was arrested by a police team led by Nadapuram Sub-Inspector P.C. Rajan at Chattamangalam on the outskirts of the city.

The accused was absconding after the police had registered a case against him on the basis of a complaint filed by the relatives of the boy. The incident took place on December 3. Noufal was charged with Section 8 (f) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and Section 377 (unnatural offences) of the Indian Penal Code. During interrogation, the accused confessed that he had sexually abused many children.
