Local bodies to be made child, elderly woman friendly

Minister for Panchayats and Social Welfare M.K. Muneer has said that the State government will implement a project for making all local bodies in the State elderly woman and child friendly. He was delivering the Republic Day message after receiving the salute at Vikram Maidan, West Hill, here on Sunday.

The government was committed to implementing a project for creating 10 model grama panchayats in the State, he said. Twelve platoons of the NCC (Army), NCC (Girls), NCC (Navy), City Armed Reserve, Rural Armed Reserve, policewomen, city traffic police, city police, Junior NCC Boys and Junior NCC Girls, besides, Scouts, Girls Guides, Excise Department and Forest Department and two teams of the Junior Red Cross took part in the parade.

Corporation Mayor A.K. Premajam, M.K. Raghavan, MP, A.K. Saseendran, MLA, district panchayat president Kanathil Jameela, District Collector C.A. Latha and City Police Commissioner G. Sparjankumar were present at the Republic Day celebrations.
