Kozhikode tops in State higher secondary exams

District records 87.44% pass; 16 students score full marks; 71.43% pass in technical school category, down from last year’s 81.82%

Kozhikode district has topped in the State higher secondary exams with 87.44% of students becoming eligible for higher studies. The results were announced by the Directorate of Higher Secondary Education on Wednesday.

The number of students scoring full marks (1,200 out of 1,200) has gone upto 16 from 13 last year. Those scoring A+ in all subjects are down to 1,480 from last year’s 1,849. Of the 36,856 students who wrote the exams, 32,228 cleared it. Last year, the pass percentage here was 86.5 and the district was in the second slot behind Kannur. This time, Kannur has been pushed to the second slot with a pass percentage of 87.13.

Those scored full marks in science stream are Abhinav Krishnan, and P.R. Anuvind (Government Higher Secondary School, Kokkallur), Neha Nazrin (Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Balussery), G.S. Vivek and T.M. Vishnu Prasad (Government Mappila Higher Secondary School, Koyilandy), R.V.M. Aparna (Government Vocational Higher Secondary School for Girls, Nadakkave, Kozhikode), M. Niranjana (Devagiri Savio Higher Secondary School, Kozhikode), J.S. Nida (Memunda Higher Secondary School), R. Gopika and T. Haritha (Providence Higher Secondary School, Kozhikode), and K. Gayathri (Government Fisheries School, Madappally, Vadakara). Students who scored full marks in commerce are Malavika Sabeesh (St. Joseph’s Anglo-Indian Higher Secondary School, Kozhikode), Punya (Providence Higher Secondary School, Kozhikode), Aparna Roy and Niya Rose Raju (St. Joseph’s Higher Secondary School, Pullooranpara), and Athulya K. Nair (St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School, Koodathai).

Schools that scored 100% pass percentage are Calicut School for the Handicapped, Kolathara, Silver Hills Higher Secondary School, Kozhikode, St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School, Koodathai, C.M. Higher Secondary School, Mannur North, Kozhikode, and Karuna Speech and Hearing Higher Secondary School, Eranhippalam.

In the technical school category, Kozhikode district’s pass percentage dipped to 71.43 from last year’s 81.82. Of the 42 students who wrote the exam, only 30 could clear it. No one has A+ in all subjects. In the open school category, the pass percentage is 42. 63 and 46 people got A+ in all subjects. In the vocational higher secondary stream, 2,139 students (83.85%) cleared the exam in part 1, part 2, and part 3. In part 1 and part 2, 2,331 students cleared the exam (91.38%).
