IUML to have iconic building in Malappuram

The State committee office of the party is currently in Kozhikode

The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) is planning to construct an iconic building to match the party’s “ethos and esteem”.

The building to be set up here would house the district committee of the party, said P. Abdul Hameed, district general secretary of the IUML. The building was designed and projected in such a way as to serve as the virtual headquarters of the party.

The IUML, despite its stronghold in the district, did not have a good building to boast of, the party leaders said. IUML leaders admitted that the party missed having an iconic building in its bastion in Malappuram.

Although the State committee office of the party was currently at Kozhikode, the new building in Malappuram would shift the centre of attraction to Malappuram.

“Having a good building that befits the party’s image and glory is always good. That too in Malappuram,” said a party MLA.

The building would be named after the party’s former leader Sayed Pookoya Thangal. Mr. Hameed said the funds for the building would be raised from party members and sympathisers.

The fund-raising would take place from May 1 to 20, he said. A meeting of the party district working committee held at Kuttippuram decided to go ahead with the building plan. District president Sayed Sadikali Shihab Thangal presided. IUML State general secretary K.P.A. Majeed, national secretaries E.T. Mohammed Basheer, MP, and Abdussamad Samadani, MLA, State leaders Kutty Ahamed Kutty, P.M.A. Salam, MLA, Education Minister P.K. Abdu Rabb, Arimbra Mohammed, T.V. Ibrahim, M. Rahmatulla, K. Mohammedunni Haji, and others spoke.
