IUML meet discusses issues among allies

April 28, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:54 am IST - KOZHIKODE

: A meeting of State-level office-bearers and district presidents of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) on Monday decided to take up with the United Democratic Front (UDF) leadership issues plaguing the coalition as well as intra-party feud among some partners.

The meeting, chaired by party State president Panakkad Syed Hyderali Shihab Thangal at League House here, felt unless these issues vis-à-vis the Kerala Congress (M) and the Janata Dal (United) were not resolved amicably, they would backfire in the three-tier local body polls this year. Issues such as the solar scam and the P.C. George episodes had eclipsed the achievement of the four-year-old government, they said.

The UDF leadership would have to collectively solve the issues before the elections. This will be taken up at the next UDF meet, Mr. Thangal told journalists emerging out of the meeting.
