Padhabhedam magazine is organising a ‘Ramayanam Fest’ in Kozhikode during the last week of the month of Karkkidakom from August 12 to 16.

The festival will feature rendition of the epic using different forms of art. The various forms of the Ramayana, from different angles and perspectives, will come out through these art forms. There will be 15 performances by eminent artistes in the genre of cinema, theatre, Kathakali, Mudiyettu, Nangyar Koothu, Therukootthu and so on. Besides, there will be an exhibition of books, sculptures and paintings based on the epic. The major performances include plays by ‘Adi Shakthi’ from Puducherry, play by Kavalam Narayanana Panicker, Kabeer poetry and Tholpavakoothu from Chittoor.

“There are different readings for the Ramayana and it has many facets. It has undergone many changes with time, place and society. It has come out in different perspectives as well,” said noted theatre activist Civic Chandran, chief coordinator of the festival.
