‘Education should go beyond syllabus’

ISRO chairman K. Radhakrishnan has emphasized the need to take school education beyond the borders of prescribed syllabus so as to enable children to develop their spiritual and emotional quotients.

Inaugurating the Pazhassiraja Universal Public school at Kannankode, in Balussery on Sunday, he stressed the need for school education to aim at all round development of personality instead of focussing solely on development of intelligence quotient, The space scientist said he was fortunate to have studied in a school which had such lofty objectives.

E. Sreedharan, Principal Advisor, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, lauded the Pazhassi Raja Educational and Charitable Trust for establishing a school since ‘true wealth is education’. Pazhassi Ravi Varma Raja, chief patron of the school, who presided said the school would follow CBSE syllabus and English medium of instruction.

M. K. Muneer, Minister for Social Welfare, who inaugurated a public function to mark the launch of the school, remarked that though study of Malayalam had to be promoted, it was also important for children to learn English since it was necessary to succeed in the global job market
