An emergency meeting of the Corporation council on Thursday gave administrative sanction to various public works projects.
The major projects that were brought under the council’s purview include renovation of various roads such as the Kammath Lane, Zamorin’s Road, Queens Hotel Road, and the Railway Station Bridge road. The council sanctioned a lower tender for the construction of a compound wall around the advanced slaughter house in Kothi and the repair of the compound wall and other works at Tagore Centenary Hall. The same was done for the bus stand yard at Palayam and the renovation of the bus bay and the Mofussil bus stand building.
The council has given administrative sanction to construction or renovation of classrooms in various schools in the city. The revised estimate for the construction of public toilets beneath the C.H. Flyover was approved. The tender rates quoted by the contractors for various projects that were approved under the 12th Five Year Plan of the Corporation and the annual plan for the year 2014-15 were approved. The tenders received for the maintenance of the Old Passport Office were also approved.

The council also approved the decision of the Public Works standing committee to drop the drinking water project for the Arambamkuni colony at Elathur, following the report of the Scheduled Castes Officer that it was not viable. The council also gave approval to work on various roads, drains, and footpaths in different parts of the city.
