The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) on Thursday rescued three fishermen who were stranded in the sea after their boat capsized. This is the second consecutive time the Coast Guard has been successful in its mid-sea rescue operations using the Coat Guard ship C-404, which had joined the ICG station, Beypore, in December 2013.
On Wednesday, the Coast Guard had used the same ship to rescue three other fishermen from Tanur who had marooned 15 nautical miles off the Ponnani coast.
The fishermen who were rescued on Thursday were found 30 nautical miles off the Ponnani coast.

They have been identified as Bharathan, 55; Kuzhantavelu, 40; and Pazhani, 36, of the fishing boat ‘Amme Narayana’ registered in Beypore here.
An ICG statement here said the fishing boat had left Beypore harbour on December 30 and capsized on Thursday morning.
The C-404 was sent to search and locate the capsized fishing boat later in the day.

The three fishermen were taken aboard and a preliminary check-up was done, following which they were brought to Beypore.
