As part of the efforts to achieve the ‘model police station’ status for the Balussery police station, the existing building will be renovated and more hi-tech crime investigation systems will be introduced at the station.

The proposal has been mooted by Purushan Kadalundi, MLA, and Rs.50 lakh from his local area development (LAD) fund will be utilised for the purpose. The project will be implemented with the cooperation of all government departments, including the Public Works Department and the Kerala State Electricity Board.
“We have already received administrative sanction for several of the already planned work. It includes the renovation of the existing building and the compound wall,” says Circle Inspector K.R. Anilkumar. The station will also get sophisticated crime investigation tools.
Now, the station is having a strength of 70 police officials, who will get better facilities with the completion of the work. A few more office rooms and a modern video conference hall too will come up.

A meeting will be held at the Balussery Guest House on Saturday to finalise the additional requirements for achieving the model station status. Purushan Kadalundi, MLA, will chair the meeting and heads of various government departments will attend.
Strong surveillance
With the renovation of the police station, the police surveillance in the Balussery town will also be strengthened.
A proposal has already been submitted to the government to sanction sufficient number of closed circuit television and night cameras.
“A final blueprint of the project will be ready by next week after the official level meeting on Saturday. By the time, we also hope to win approval on the part of the government for some additional proposals,” says Mr. Anilkumar.
