The district panchayat has shortlisted five higher secondary schools and a primary school to implement an online institutional management system that can quickly replace conventional record management method with the support of a newly developed android mobile application.

Edumia, an active management app developed by a Kozhikode-based IT firm and launched here on Thursday, will be used for streamlining the daily administration of the six schools.

It will also make possible an effective parent-teacher-student communication for academic improvement.

District panchayat authorities said the app would help parents track all official activities at the schools and the details of students’ participation in it. Details on their attendance, exam results, school notes and changes in bus timing would be updated in the app for easy and real-time reference, they said. Initially, the government schools at Balussery, Mavoor, Narikkuni, Kuttiyadi, Orkkatteri and Parannur will be shifting to the new app-based administration.

The District Institute of Education and Training will monitor the progress of the new technology-based administration in schools and check its scope for further expansion.
