Admiral’s Cup regatta at INA from today

The opening ceremony of the Admiral’s Cup Sailing Regatta 2015 hosted by the Indian Naval Academy (INA) at Ezhimala was held on the academy campus on Wednesday.

The event was inaugurated by INA Commandant Vice Admiral Ajit Kumar P. Teams from Australia, Bahrain, Bangladesh, China, Egypt, France, Germany, Indonesia, the Mauritius, the Netherlands, Oman, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, the United States, and India are participating in the event. The races are being conducted by the INA on behalf of the Indian Naval Sailing Association.

The races in Laser (Radial) class sailing boats will begin on December 10 and conclude on December 13. The regatta is being held since 2010.

A press release said that 40 participants will compete in the waters of the Ettikkulam Bay of the INA. The release said that the INA has also invited all major sailing clubs and reputed yachtsmen from all over India. Students from local schools and colleges as also NCC cadets have also been invited to witness the event.
