November 21, 2014 09:37 am | Updated 09:37 am IST - Kozhikode:

The Kozhikode rural police will launch an inquiry into the incident in which a senior administrative body member of the Parakkadavu Darul Huda English Medium School allegedly made an abusive statement against a four-and-a-half year old sexual assault victim of the school.

The victim’s father filed a petition with the District Police Chief (Kozhikode rural) on Thursday.

He also handed over a voice clip of the alleged speech made by the accused at a recent public function.

District Police Chief P.H. Ashraf told

The Hindu that the inquiry would be headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP), Nadapuram.

“We have directed the complainant to produce the video clipping too,” he said. Action would be taken against the accused under the Juvenile Justice Act if found guilty, he said.

“We are waiting for the video proof,” Mr. Ashraf said. The speech had appeared on social media and it drew instant and wide criticism.

The sexual assault took place on October 30.

The police had registered a case but the arrest of suspects was confirmed only recently. The school management had registered protest against the police action as two students, pursing religious studies at the institute, were nabbed.
