‘Sarang’, the ninth venue of the State School Arts Festival at the CSI Parish Hall, here, had a special viewer who came to hear young talents on the violin.
Vaikkom Vamana Prabhu, a 76-year-old music aficionado, came to the venue with two of his grand children, who also performed in front of their beloved grandpa.
He was surrounded by some music buffs at the venue. Mr. Vamana Prabhu was junior to playback singer K.J. Yesudas at the RLV Music Academy of Music and Fine Arts at Trippunithura.

After completing the ‘Ganabhooshanam’ course with first class, he took to a career in teaching. “My family then did not have enough financial resources to think of my higher education. I had to take up teaching for a living,” he said.

Commenting on the performance of high school children on the violin, the seasoned musician, who has the credit of conducting several concerts across Kerala, said he could see only the best of Kerala’s talents in the music genre. “Of course, they are at the beginning stage and with a lot of slips, but we can be proud of the way they are trying to perform at this young age,” he said.
