The Fire and Rescue Services team from Perambra station, on Saturday, saved a 34-year-old man who fell into an abandoned well four days ago.

Shiju Kottakkunnummal, the youth who got trapped inside the 50-foot-deep well at Avittanaloor, was rescued around 11.30 p.m. after a neighbour who accidentally heard his feeble cry informed the Fire and Rescue Services personnel.

The man suffered minor injuries and was admitted to the Perambra Government Hospital. According to Fire and Rescue Service officials, the youth fell into the well while he was going to a nearby market. The rescue operation was carried out under the leadership of Leading Fireman Saji Chacko. Shiju’s family members were about to file a man missing case at the local police station as they could not trace him even after four days. They had even searched all the nearby wells in the area.
