‘Mission Perambra’, a new project aimed at the overall development of the Perambra Assembly constituency with special focus on public infrastructure development, health, and education, is on the anvil.

According to people’s representatives from the area, the formation of a new taluk and the construction of a three-kilometre bypass road from Kakkad to Kallode will top the agenda.

The proposals would be discussed in detail at a workshop on July 16.

P.P. Krishnanandan, vice president of the Perambra block panchayat, said the developmental needs of the constituency would be finalised with the participation of all the 10 grama panchayats in the region. Party leaders, socio-cultural activists, heads of various government departments and health activists would take part. Excise Minister T.P. Ramakrishnan, who represents the constituency in the Assembly, would coordinate and review the works. At a constituency-level seminar to be held in October, representatives from the local bodies would present their specific development projects to be considered under the mission. The construction of the bypass road tops the priority as the developing township is struggling with the increased flow of vehicles and traffic congestions.
