Industries Minister E.P. Jayarajan has announced relaxation of existing rules and regulations to facilitate the speedy launch of new industrial ventures in Kerala with a view to attract and encourage more entrepreneurs.

Addressing a face-to-face programme organised by the Kerala State Small Industries Association (KSSIA) here on Saturday, Mr. Jayarajan said industrialists would be allowed to start their business ventures readily if they were not granted the required technical sanction within a month of submission of formal application.

The Minister also said that a direction in this regard had already been sent to the Principal Secretary of the Industries Department and the government did not want to encourage any conflicting action on the part of the officials concerned. Expressing his commitment to promote an investor-friendly environment in the State, Mr. Jayarajan said there would not be any laxity on the part of the government in giving timely clearance to deserving proposals.
According to the Minister, the Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (Kinfra) would try to locate and tap the development potential of unused land in the possession of the public sector.
The Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) would extend maximum support to budding entrepreneurs to come out with new industrial ventures in the State, he added.

V.K.C. Mammad Koya, MLA, chaired the interactive meeting, which was organised as part of the upcoming ‘Rising Kerala-2016’ exhibition of small scale industrialists.
District Collector N. Prasanth and senior officers representing various departments under the Ministry of Industries were present at the meeting.
