One person suffers minor bruises in accident on GST Road

Three cars were severely damaged in an accident on Grand Southern Trunk Road near the Chennai Airport on Sunday morning.

The incident occurred when a State government bus rammed them. The driver of one of the cars suffered bruises.

St. Thomas Mount Traffic (Investigation) Police said the accident took place when the driver of the government bus ignored a signal. The three cars were also waiting at the same signal near the airport opposite Trident Hotel. The collision took place just after 5 a.m. One of the cars was reduced to a crumpled mass of iron and steel

Personnel of the Emergency Rescue Team of the Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue Services Department from the Tambaram Station reached the spot and rescued those trapped in the cars, including an 18-month-old girl.

According to a traffic policemen, the State government bus belonged to the Villupuram Division of Tamil Nadu State Transport and was on its way from Kallakurichi to Koyambedu.
