S. George who took charge as the Commissioner of Police, Chennai, on Wednesday promised better traffic arrangements and said there will be no compromise on the maintenance of law and order in the city.
Mr. George succeeds J.K. Tripathy who was transferred and posted as the Additional Director General of Police (Prisons). In a brief interaction with presspersons, the new city police chief termed his new post a ‘challenging’ assignment.
He promised better traffic flow on city roads and said he would hold talks with various agencies including the Chennai Corporation in order to ensure a hassle-free situation for motorists. He later held a meeting with Additional Commissioners, Joint Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners and discussed matters concerning law and order and crime prevention.
