Crime and punishment: the fight against rape

The aim is to bring in different perspectives on not just the incident in New Delhi, but also the larger questions of women’s rights, patriarchy and the law. Siddharth Varadarajan, editor, <i>The Hindu</i>, will moderate the discussion.

In the context of the recent rape incident in New Delhi which has sparked unprecedented anger across the country, The Hind u, in association with Shriram Chits, is organising a public forum to discuss and debate the issues involved.

The event will be held on Thursday, December 27, at Ethiraj College for Women, Egmore, at 5.30 p.m.

Speakers will include Prabha Sridevan, former Judge, Madras High Court, Sashi Kumar, trustee, Media Development Foundation and chairman, Asian College of Journalism, advocate D. Nagasaila, and senior police officers and students.
