Court rejects bail plea of Katta and two others

A Lokayukta court on Monday rejected the bail pleas of former minister Katta Subramanya Naidu and his son, accused in the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board scam, and sent them to judicial custody.

The bail application of Srinivas, MD of ITASKA software company to which KIADB allotted the land, was also rejected.

They are facing charges of irregularities in land allotment of KIADB in B K Halli village to the software company, which was reportedly floated by an aide of Mr. Naidu.

Judge Sudhindra Rao ordered that the accused be taken into judicial custody.

Naidu’s son Jagadish is a corporator.

On July 8, the Lokayukta police had filed a charge sheet in the case against nine persons for irregularities in the land allotment.

Mr. Naidu had resigned from the ministry of former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa last December after registration of an FIR.

The court granted bail to four other accused, including Basavapoornaiah, Chairman of United Telecom, and Gopi, a city corporator.

They have been asked to furnish a personal bond of Rs five lakh each.

An application filed by Mr. Katta Subramanaya Naidu and two others seeking stay on the court’s order rejecting bail to them was also dismissed.
