Shivakumaraiah, said to be the kingpin in the PU paper leak scam, has been arrested by the CID on Monday.

Now that the alleged kingpin of the >II PU chemistry paper leakage Shivakumaraiah has been arrested, the police are looking for answers to several questions that have plagued the police establishment for many years now.

The biggest question staring at CID sleuths is whether only II PU chemistry question paper was leaked or all other papers were also leaked.

CID sleuths are being cautious on the issue, and to a question on whether leakage of other papers had come to their notice during the probe, H.C. Kishore Chandra, Director-General of Police, CID, said, “We have a case of leak of chemistry paper and we are probing the case.”

Sources in the CID, however, said it was likely that other papers were also leaked, but that was difficult to establish. Sources indicated that unless solid proof was unearthed, the probe was unlikely to expand to the possible leakage of other papers.

Meanwhile, CID sleuths told The Hindu that while they were positive that the primary source of the leakage was taluk treasuries, probably in Malur, Tumakuru, Hubballi, and Haveri, this was yet to be ascertained. PU question papers were leaked from the Kadur treasury in Chikkamagalur district in 2012. Shivakumaraiah is said to have employed many PU teachers to prepare key answers for the leaked question papers. Probe is on to identify these teachers and other associates.
