The CBI on Thursday tracked down the man who is suspected of uploading videos of a woman being gang-raped that went viral on the internet. He was arrested in Bengaluru last night.
He was produced before a special CBI court on Friday. The judge has given a transit warrant of four days. Kaushik will be taken to Delhi and then to Sitapur.
The suspect, Kaushik Kounr, is in his early thirties and is a class 12 drop out. He is from Odisha and has been residing in Bengaluru with his cousins from the past two years, CBI sources said. He works as a driver in Bengaluru.

The Supreme Court had taken cognisance of the case after Sunita Krishnan, an activist from Hyderabad, wrote to Chief Justice of India H.L. Dattu in February, sharing nine videos that she found on WhatsApp showing a gang of men raping a girl. The Supreme Court directed the CBI to identify the person who uploaded the videos. At the same time, Ms Krishnan initiated a campaign “Shame the rapist”.
CBI sources said that advanced cyber forensics were deployed to track down the culprit. “The IP address of the computer from which three of the videos were uploaded was tracked down with the help of various internet service providers. The IP address was found to be in a residential apartment in Bengaluru and the videos were tracked down to Kaushik Kuonr,” an officer said.
