With an aim to recognise young talent in rural areas and encourage them to perform better in their academics, Srujanavani Voluntary Association has instituted ‘Srujanavani Pratibha Puraskaralu’ awards here in the city.
The association has identified some 100 students of Class X from government schools across 43 mandals (4 in urban and 39 in rural mandals) in the district. The unique aspect about the award is that apart from presenting awards to the students from each mandal, their parents and school headmasters will also be felicitated.
R. Ravi Kumar, T.S. Ramakrishna, K. Appala Raju and G. Umashankar Rao of Srujanavani Voluntary Association along with their team members have worked for almost two months to identify the toppers from each government school, tracking down their address and speaking to their parents and school management about the concept. “Most students in rural areas are good at their studies. But their hard work and efforts often remain unrecognised due to various factors. We wanted to do our bit by roping in such students and appreciate them for what they are apart from felicitating their parents and headmasters of the respective schools. This will definitely help boost their self-confidence and encourage them to excel further academically,” they said.

The members of the association are also into other wings like Yuva Kiran (providing scholarships to the degree students at rural areas), rural development activities and providing personality development programmes. The innovative award institution ceremony will be held at Kalabharathi Auditorium on Saturday from 9 a.m.
