With an underlying theme of God and nature, works of five artists – K.V.S. Prasad, G.S. Vasu, K.S. Ramesh, Uma V. and K. Venkat Rao – are displayed at the inaugural exhibition of the art gallery ‘Art Station’, a new addition in the city’s art map. Located at R.K. Beach near Matsyadarsini (Aquarium), the art gallery opened its portals on Thursday as an endeavour of a team of four women artists to offer a platform for showcasing art.
It was a joint effort of artists Jumana Topiwala, Jaya Narasimha Rao, Dolly Dhillon and Latha Raja that finally gave the city one of its first private art galleries. At the inaugural exhibition, artist Prasad presented his works titled the ‘Tantric Series’.

Buoyant in colours, artist Kamesh has depicted a series called ‘Get Together’ that brings in the concept of contemporary art, whereas P.S. Vasu’s works dominate the ‘Buddha’ theme. The cycle of nature from devastation to the regeneration of fresh life is aptly denoted in a series of works by artist Uma who brings alive the memories of cyclone Hudhud on the canvas. Sculptor Venkat Rao’s works on bronze and fibreglass are on display.
The exhibition also features works of the four women artists Jumana, Jaya, Dolly and Latha. “Through this endeavour we wish to bring about a change in the art scene in the city and provide a suitable place for artists and art lovers to appreciate and enjoy affordable art,” said Jumana Topiwala. The art works are priced from Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 45,000. The exhibition will be on from 10.30 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. till November 22.
