VUDA Vice-Chairman Kona Sasidhar has evolved a stringent action plan to curb development of unauthorised layouts and constructions in VUDA jurisdiction.

At a meeting with the Planning wing officials and District Panchayat Officers (DPOs) of Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam and East Godavari districts on Friday, he asked them to invoke provisions of AP Urban Areas (Development) Act 1975 to prevent buyers from falling prey to individuals and real estate firms developing unauthorised layouts.

Conducting intensive and continuous field inspections to detect all the unauthorised layouts involving Panchayat secretaries to DPOs, surveyors and planning officers from VUDA to identify unauthorized development, he suggested.

As per the provisions of the Act, heavy penalties should be levied and criminal action initiated, besides removal of all developments in such layouts, Mr. Sasidhar said.

So far, VUDA used to issue notices to those involved in unauthorized developments, but now severe action would be taken against those taking up layout development or constructions without obtaining proper approvals from VUDA.

The Vice-Chairman asked the Planning officials to identify all such layouts in VUDA purview with the support of Panchayat secretaries and district Panchayat officers and list them out within a week. They will be placed on the VUDA website cautioning the general public not to take up any transactions.
