Pulichintala, the first project to be taken up under Jalayagnam, will be of great benefit to farmers of Andhra Pradesh. They will benefit a lot from different irrigation projects taken up by the State government, according to State Ministers Kolusu Parthasarathy, Ganta Srinivasa Rao and Erasu Pratap Reddy.
The three Ministers visited the venue of the public meeting of Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy that is scheduled for December 7 at PED Grounds after dedicating the Pulichintala project to the nation.
They inspected the huge model of the K.L. Rao Sagar Dam that is under construction at Swaraj Maidan, the venue of the public meeting.

Talking to mediaperson at the venue, Mr. Parthasarathy said that the demand for the Pulichintala Project, which was named after the ‘Father of Indian Irrigation’ and former Union Minister K.L. Rao, was there even before Nagarjuna Sagar was conceived. Several problems cropped up during construction of the project, but the Congress overcame them and finished it, he added.
Legal option The governments that were in power before Y.S.R regime were satisfied in laying foundation stones for the projects. It was the Congress that went ahead with building the projects, he said. The Minister said that the State government would take legal recourse with regard to the second Krishna Water Disputes Tribunal Award.
Mr Pratap Reddy said that the demand for a Rayala-Telangana was gaining moment because the Rayalaseema region which was already arid would not even get drinking water if the State was bifurcated. If two of the districts were clubbed with Telangana the problem would be less severe, some people think. But the clubbing of Rayalaseema districts with Telangana was not in the proposal made by the CWC, he added.

Mr. Srinivasa Rao said very emphatically that the State would not be divided under any circumstances.
