Post YSR Congress party supremo Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy being granted bail after confinement for over 16 months at the Chanchalguda jail, the mood is upbeat in the YSRC camp in the District.
The cadres are waiting with bated breath for Jagan to resume his yatra from Guntur, which was his last Odarpu Yatra stop before he was arrested. But leaders in the party feel that the High Court may not immediately grant him the permission to tour different parts of the State. One of the pre-conditions of the bail was that he will be confined to Hyderabad. A senior leader said, “It may be too early for the High Court to grant him permission. It may take a month or so. For the moment he may be granted permission to visit the grave of his father and former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy in Pulivendula in Kadapa District.” He further added that if Jagan was unable to go ahead with the yatra then the onus would be on his mother and honorary president of the party Y.S. Vijayamma.
The Jagan’s bail has not only added impetus to the morale of the party, but the leaders feel that they would sweep the elections. The party’s Central Constituency in-charge P. Gowtham Reddy pointed out that Jagan was the only leader who came out openly on the Samaikyandhra issue and this will carry the party a long way in the coming elections. “Apart from the incumbency factor that has already set against the Congress party, the people have started to believe that Jagan was the only leader who is capable of taking forward their dreams and the welfare schemes started by YSR,” he said.

The leaders feel that irrespective of the bifurcation aspect the party would sweep in the Seemandhra region bagging at least 150 of the 175 seats and get over 20 in the Telangana region out of a total of 119. “Though it is a bit early to predict, but the popular feeling goes with the figures. In the Telangana region we expect to do better in regions such as Khammam, Ranga Reddy, Hyderabad and Nalgonda. But we will sweep Andhra, as we expect a huge transfer of votes from both Congress and TDP,” said a senior party leader. He also ruled out any tie-up with any party, except for MIM in Telangana region.
