Information and Public Relations and Information Technology Minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy on Sunday requested the cooperation of farmers and other sections in land pooling process so that the government could develop a capital with state of art infrastructure in the new State.
The government was firm on evolving a mechanism wherein it would be win-win situation for farmers and others concerned as part of land pooling process. Every effort would be made to ensure that justice was done to farmers in the acquisition of land required for the capital. “Land pooling has been suggested by experts and it was implemented successfully in other places. We will try to convince farmers as it is beneficial to them,” he said adding the government was examining the method adopted by the administration in Naya Raipur, Chandigarh and Ahmedabad for land acquisition.
The GoM would again meet on October 6 to discuss the issue. When his attention was drawn to allegations made by the APPC president N. Raghuveera Reddy, he replied that the GoM has already secured the data pertaining to government, including forest lands. “It’s wrong to make allegations that we are not focusing on the government lands,” he said. Plans were chalked out to attract investments in A.P. The State would get over five lakh jobs with investments of over Rs.1200 crore in the IT sector and four lakh jobs with investments of Rs.30,000 crore in electronics sector. More changes were needed in education sector with a focus on skills development, he added.

Replying to a query, he said the new capital would be developed in Vijayawada-Mangalagiri-Tenali-Guntur region. “We are leaving no stone unturned to develop the best capital city for the A.P.,” he said.
