Three-year-old raped by neighbour in Bengre

A three-year-old girl has been raped allegedly by her 40-year-old neighbour in Bengre in Panambur police station limits on Saturday. Girl’s father has filed the complaint. Efforts are being made to trace the accused, who was said to be at large.

Place of worship stoned An unidentified group of persons threw stones at a place of worship in Konaje police station limits in the early hours of Saturday. According to the complainant, two persons on a motorcycle stopped near the religious place, and threw stones that damaged window panes. The complainant, who stays near the place of workshop, came to the spot hearing the sound of glass break and saw two persons riding away. Messages about stone throwing had been sent to a few media houses two hours before the incident. Police Commissioner R. Hitendra said efforts are being made to trace the source of the message.

Deralakatte gang identified

The Ullal police on February 6 used video conferencing facility for the medical student in Delhi, who was forced to perform sexual acts in Deralakatte, to identify persons who committed the act. As many as eight persons had been arrested and were lodged in Mangalore District Prison. Police Commissioner R. Hitendra said victim in Delhi had expressed her reservation to come to Mangalore for the process of formal identification of the arrested persons. Hence the police arranged for video conference between the National Informatics Centre, where the victim came, and the Mangalore District Prison where the accused are lodged. With the victim identifying the accused, the police was now finalising the chargesheet, Mr. Hitendra said.

Man slips to death
Mohammad Sulaiman (51), a construction worker, died after he slipped into a drain near SDM College, Ujire sometime on Friday night. His body was found in the drain on Saturday morning.
