Each house in the city would be provided with two plastic garbage bins, one for wet garbage and another for dry, within the next six weeks to ensure segregation of waste at source, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao said here on Monday.
As part of the Swachh Hyderabad initiative, Mr.Rao held a review meeting with 12 units of Secunderabad Assembly Constituency and said since present rickshaws were not adequate to collect garbage, 2,000 auto trolleys would be provided to the local youth for shifting garbage to collection centres on the outskirts.
The GHMC was instructed to work out strategies for solid waste management with suggestions from experts in 45 days and also place orders for procurement of garbage bins, auto trolleys and lorries.

Describing the state of nalas as extremely bad, Mr. Rao said the nalas instead of taking rainwater out had turned into cesspools of sewer. He also expressed dismay at the way house constructions were taken up in basthis which left no space for planning any development works.
Officials going to people as part of Swachh Hyderabad programme were asked to collect details about those suffering with prolonged illness for the government to ensure their treatment. Widening of roads and removal of nala encroachments would mean loss of properties and those affected would be provided with new dwellings, the Chief Minister said adding that Swachh Hyderabad was not an exercise to close in four days but would continue uninterrupted for next four years.

The Chief Ministe has consented on taking back the outsourcing workers of Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), who were removed as part of HMDA revamp last month. The decision was taken in view of the family conditions of these workers, a press release said.

He also announced Rs.5 lakh financial assistance to K. Balakumar of Secunderabad who was injured by a police bullet during the 1969 agitation. Facing financial crisis with his telephone booth not providing a livelihood, Balakumar met the Chief Minister when he came to Mettuguda as part of Swachh Hyderabad programme and explained his condition, the press release said.
