Police have identified 3,000 spots in the city for installation of CCTV cameras. A sum of Rs. 450 crore had been earmarked for this, said J. Geetha Reddy, district in-charge Minister.

M. Shashidhar Reddy, Vice-Chairman, National Disaster Management Authority, said he had been requesting the government to conduct emergency management exercises.

Majlis MP Asaduddin Owaisi wanted to know why the government ignored specific intelligence alerts.

In spite of the Mecca Masjid and Lumbini Park bomb blasts government had not come up with a security plan for the city. Why couldn’t the city police upgrade its technology, he asked.

Mr. Owaisi objected to the discharge of injured persons from hospitals without complete treatment. Government was paying lakhs of rupees to the hospitals for incomplete treatment, he said. Earlier, on his suggestion the District Review Committee meeting observed two minutes silence in memory of the blast victims.

Mr. Owaisi objected to the presence of wine shops in close proximity to places of worship and educational institutions.

“There is a direct link between liquor and sexual attacks on women. The government should take it seriously,” he said.
