Justice A. Rajasekhar Reddy of Hyderabad High Court on Monday directed the JNTU, Hyderabad to facilitate admissions into such of the engineering colleges which satisfy the conditions regarding the qualified teaching faculty after making appropriate inspections.
These colleges were also given one month time to comply with other infrastructural deficiencies. The university, however, expressed doubt in the court whether the whole process of inspection, making available these colleges for counseling could be completed before August 31.
Justice Reddy issued these interim orders on a batch of writ petitions filed by various college managements challenging JNTU’s action in refusing affiliation. They argued that no notice was given to them though the rules provided for such notice. The university contended that the conditions stipulated especially regarding the teaching faculty are not fulfilled by these 174 colleges.

Justice Rajasekhar Reddy, who heard the arguments till Saturday, felt that if the serious issue of qualified faculty was fulfilled, the colleges could be included in the process of web-counseling by giving time to comply with other deficiencies. The JNTU was directed to consider the applications made by the colleges that they had fulfilled the condition of faculty, make appropriate inspection and then make these colleges available for admissions for this academic year.
After the judgment was pronounced the Advocate General K. Ramakrishna Reddy expressed difficulty in completing th process by August 31. The Supreme Court had directed the government to complete the admissions by August 31. Justice Rajasekhar Reddy reminded that during the course of arguments the willingness to consider the case of colleges complying with condition of having qualified faculty was expressed. The judge said that orders have been pronounced and the modalities may be worked out.
