The Kundadam police have arrested a 38-year-old man on charges of kidnapping and robbing K. S. Unnikrishnan (53), a native of Palakkad district in Kerala, at S. Kachipuram near here on Saturday.
Police sources said search for the accomplices of Sriram, the arrested accused, is on. The jewellery, cash of Rs. 1 lakh, six mobile phone sets and watches which were allegedly taken away from Unnikrishnan by the accused were yet to be recovered.
According to police officials, Unnikrishnan came to S. Kachipuram near Kundadam from Palakkad in a car to purchase land at cheap rate, believing the offers extended by the accused.

Soon after Unnikrishnan reached the spot, the accused took him to a house in a lonely location.
They then assaulted him with wood pieces and threatened him with a sickle before robbing the valuables belonging to Unnikrishnan, police officials said.
